Hah, so I worked about 3am to 5am on this thing.

I tried lots of different things and ended up going for a faux watercolor, storybook illustration sorta look.

Please let me know whatcha think. I think I might just draw like this more often.

Hooray, Applejack! I'm so glad you decided to finish that little sketch, and truly these new brushes are lovely... they absolutely do mimic the effect or watercolor here to great effect. I like the colors and overall mood of the little scene/moment, and while I don't really see a problem with Applejack's legs (especially since, as you say they do strange things with pony anatomy all the time in the actual show) perhaps crossing her right leg over her left would have looked better and more"natural" from this angle. Whatever the case may be though it is a very pleasing style, so I look forward to seeing more like it from you in the future!

I like the style and I think it works for you! The intentional messiness of it is great.

kiyyik is right about the legs, though. that sort of pose seems like it would do better on a pony more anthro'd, but the pose doesn't take away from the effectiveness of the picture.

the sharp lines of the fence contrast with the softness of the rest of the picture, maybe that was intentional?

Yeahhh that leg... heh. I figured I'd try and break the rules a little. I've seen them break anatomy even further in the show so I thought why not. (Refer to Scootaloo leaning on the log in 'Sleepless in Ponyville')

Anyways, thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you like the style.

And yeah, the contrast of the line weight was sort of intentional.. I think.. (It's hard to remember what was going through my head when I drew this, it was so late) I think my goal was to bring the eye towards the center of the composition.

Interesting. I like the style very much, and of course my favorite character here. Left leg is a bit odd, I'm not sure I see how that works given the ponies' hind legs. Perhaps it would have worked better with the right leg tucked back a bit? There's a couple other minor things but the day I can draw anywhere near this good, let alone at 3 in the morning, is the day I can carp further.

Anyway, more like this. Definitely.

Heheh, thank you very much for the feedback! Yeah, I knew I was pushing the boundaries a little with that leg. I figure they break the rules in the show (Oh man do they break them hard!) so why not me too?
